The Secrets of Ancient Times
Věnec Celtic Settlement
The Věnec settlement is located on the southwest peak of Pržmo, which dominates the landscape above the Volyňka valley near the villages of Lčovice and Zálezly. The name Věnec only refers to the area of the settlement: it means “wreath” and the settlement is called that probably because of the massive stone walls surrounding the peak.
The fortified settlement protected the trade routes from the Austrian salt chamber. The findings of several fragments of graphitic pottery may imply that the Celts used to live in this area in the 2nd and 1st B.C.
